Privacy & Locally Saved Road Checks
Understand what stays in your browser, how to delete saved trip checks and what happens when you open an external road-authority source.
No account and no automatic trip storage
The site does not require registration or request your device location. Your selected states and road filter appear in the page URL. Anyone you share that URL with can read them, and normal web-server infrastructure can receive them. Do not put personal or sensitive information in a road-search field.
Saving on this device is optional
Only pressing “Save on this device” stores a brief in this browser’s local storage, under ausroadalerts.checks.v1. The saved entry contains the selected regions, road filter, optional trip label, your manual check times, source status and compact incident snapshots. Up to five checks are retained for up to 30 days. Old entries are removed when you next open the saved-check interface. This is not cloud storage or a notification subscription.
Saved data is readable by anyone using this browser profile. It may be removed by your browser. Use the controls below or your browser’s site-data settings to delete it. Declining or blocking storage does not stop you checking sources.
Hosting and external services
Cloudflare delivers the website and may process connection details such as IP addresses and request URLs for delivery, security and operational purposes. Automatic WA requests are made by the server rather than sending your road filter to the data provider. Following an official-source link leaves this site and is subject to that provider’s privacy policy. Links use a no-referrer policy.
Optional interactive maps
Map code and geographic tiles load only after you choose “Load interactive map”. UNPKG supplies MapLibre code and styles; OpenFreeMap supplies base-map tiles, fonts and sprites. These services receive connection details such as your IP address and the map resources requested. The requested tiles reveal the area being viewed, but this application does not send them your road-search text, trip labels, saved checks or incident records. No device-location permission is requested. Closing the map stops future map-view requests; reloading the page resets the choice. Base-map availability is not road-status evidence. You can use source reports and official links without loading the map.
Advertising and analytics
Eligible public content pages can load Google AdSense advertising and its third-party cookies or similar storage where permitted. Personal road-check results, error pages and legal or policy pages carry no Google ads. We do not use a separate third-party analytics tracker or a marketing mailing list. For visitors in the EEA, United Kingdom or Switzerland, ad loading is disabled pending publication of a certified consent mechanism; visitors whose country cannot be established are also excluded. Visitors in other regions may receive advertising; see Google advertising and privacy information. Google AdSense account approval and consent-system publication have not been claimed.
