What to do when a traffic feed is missing

Recognise unavailable, partial and unconfirmed-freshness road data, then complete an official-source check without mistaking a missing feed for clear roads.

Use the direct source instead of waiting

The brief loads each connected source separately. An unavailable source does not prevent you opening the authority service for that state. The other source cards stay usable and a retry refreshes only automated retrieval; it does not certify your route.

Read the status, not just the count

Available means our technical retrieval and configured freshness checks passed for that named source. Partial means not all expected records were successfully read. Freshness unconfirmed means the source-edit timestamp is absent, implausible or older than our conservative threshold. These are different from a successful query that returns zero records.

Keep your own record honest

After reading the authority page, tick the manual confirmation yourself. The recorded time belongs to your action in this browser. Saving does not register an account, subscribe to notifications or send your trip to us. Clear saved checks on a shared device.

Do not use cached results as a reopening notice

Saved snapshots help you compare what was listed. A failed new retrieval cannot remove all of the old incidents. Comparisons are allowed only between complete, freshness-confirmed snapshots of the same feed. Even then, disappearance is not authoritative reopening confirmation.

This guide explains this tool. For actual restrictions, timing and access conditions, use the relevant road authority’s current notice.
